Description

Solid Felt is a stereo multimode analog filter in desktop format. From subtle timbral variation to an all-encompassing sonic treatment, Solid Felt can be used in multiple ways to embellish or vandalize your sound bouquet.

Its patchable design allows the analog filters to be used in stereo, dual mono, or a number of other experimental applications. The two filters, A and B, can operate in lowpass, bandpass, or highpass modes, and both filters feature resonance for squelchy sweeps or pinged self-oscillation purposes. Both cutoff frequency and filter mode can be CV controlled, either by self-patching using the onboard modulators or via external CV signals from eg. Eurorack modular.

Solid Felt offers two LFOs and an envelope follower for immediate modulation. LFO 1 features a morphable shape control from triangle to square, as well as dual outputs, with the second output 180 degrees out of phase. An Invert gate input will momentarily flip the 180 degrees output to be in-phase. LFO 2 is a sawtooth waveform, with rising and falling ramps available at its outputs. The envelope follower defaults to tracking input A, but an external input is available for outside signals, and a Feel control defines the envelopes response to amplitude changes. As a bonus, the envelope follower feeds a clock divider, with two, four, and eight division outputs .

With the routing buttons at the bottom, it’s possible to route signals from input A into filter B for mono-to-stereo applications, as well as allow filter cutoff CV on Filter A to influence Filter B. Solid Felt can also be used as two totally independent mono filters. Regardless of how you choose to route and patch Solid Felt, it’s a wonderful sound-shaping companion that can bring some interesting movement to your music. Possible configurations include:

  • As two independent mono filters
  • To give a stereo treatment to a mono signal
  • To filter a stereo signal at the same cutoff frequency on the L and R channels
  • As a mono 24dB/oct filter (placing the two filters in series)
  • To synthesize sounds, via external feedback patching
  • To extrapolate a CV signal from your audio input and use it to control any of its parameter or external gear
  • As a stereo overdrive effect
  • To bring line level signals to Eurorack level
