What is Wise?

Wise (previously known as TransferWise) is a payment service which lets you pay for your Thonk order via your domestic bank account, or via credit or debit card directly to the Thonk bank account in the United Kingdom.

It is pretty much ALWAYS quicker to use Credit Card and it normally has cheaper fees for orders under 150 GBP.

If you are in a rush please use Stripe. If you choose Wise please be patient waiting for your order to be processed.

Wise payments don’t typically incur the high fees normally associated with international bank transfers. This may or may not be cheaper than using Stripe. Currently Wise supports over 60 countries and a long list of different currencies. Thonk have been using Wise (aka Transferwise) since 2013.

Are you eligible to use Wise?

We offer Wise as a payment option to anyone outside the United Kingdom who is paying more than 100 GBP (inc. VAT) for a single order.

Using Transferwise

The basic process is:

You place your order on Thonk and select Wise Bank Transfer as the payment method

2. You log into to Wise

3. You select the EXACT amount in GBP (British Pounds Sterling) to send to Thonk (we don’t accept ANY other currencies other than GBP). Please don’t work out a conversion before going into Wise, let Wise do that conversion for you.

4. You chose the recipient as simply [email protected] and name of business Thonk Ltd (you do not need our bank details to pay us)

5. The reference number should be your order number (please note that failing to enter your order number could delay your order shipping by a further week)

6. You finish the Wise set up and they instruct you to transfer money to their bank account or pay online via debit or credit card.

7. 1-5 days later the money arrives in Thonk’s bank account. We check our bank account once a day at 10am and ship any paid orders the same day.
